Scottsdale free trolley in danger of being shut down

Dec 17, 2014, 5:30 AM | Updated: 5:30 am

Have you seen the Scottsdale Day Tripper trolley coming around the bend?

The Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau says riders need to take advantage of the free trolley before it’s too late, says Phoenix Business Journal. The CVB is concerned that ridership numbers have not been that high and is warning that the free trolley services may soon come to an end, unless something changes.

“If ridership does not drastically increase this year, the service will be discontinued, leaving Scottsdale without a viable public transportation option for our visitors,” the CVB wrote in a letter to Scottsdale businesses.

The CVB is encouraging local businesses to promote the trolley that runs daily, leaving Scottsdale Fashion Square every 15 minutes between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. The trolley makes stop at the Shops at Gainey Village, Kierland Commons, Scottsdale Quarter, the Scottsdale Promenade and the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, according to Phoenix Business Journal.

The trolley will begin making trips beginning Dec. 26 and will run until April 1.

We want to hear from you.
