PHOENIX — A teenager shot by police outside a north Phoenix home has died.
A 12-year-old girl was taken to the hospital after she was shot when the teen’s gun went off during the Tuesday night shooting. She was in the hospital in stable condition.
William R. Osterlind, who had just completed basic training in the Army, died Wednesday.
Police said another girl, 14, in the home near Tatum Boulevard and Deer Valley Road had called them, saying Osterlind had been threatening her.
When police arrived, Osterlind put a gun to his head and refused to put it down. An officer shot him and the gun went off, sending a bullet through the front door, striking the younger sister.
