Fatal wreck shuts down Interstate 10 East at US 60 for hours

PHOENIX — At least one person died and six others were injured in multiple car wrecks Friday morning on East Valley freeways.
The deadly accident on eastbound Interstate 10 at U.S. 60/Baseline Road in Tempe happened around 5:15 a.m. and closed down the stretch of road for almost nine hours.
At least two of the injured in the I-10 wreck were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A Department of Public Safety spokesman said a speeding car hit a median wall and another car. A woman sitting in the back seat of the speeding car died.

Another person was taken to the hospital after a car fire on U.S. 60 East at Mill Avenue during commuter rush hours.
