PHOENIX — It’s not just the malls that are jammed with holiday shoppers this time of year.
A Valley auction house says it sees bigger crowds bidding on items that could turn out to be a bargain.
Deb Weidenhamer, president of Auction Systems in Phoenix, said that many people show up for auctions just before Christmas.
“I think people use the auctions as a place to shop for Christmas gifts,” she said. “When you’re a family on a budget, it’s a great way to stretch your dollar further.”
Auction Systems has an event coming up where it will sell a little of everything.
“From cars, to guns, to tools, to toys, to computer surplus,” Weidenhamer said. “There’s lots of good stuff at that auction.”
The pre-Christmas auction is happening on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 951 W. Watkins St. in Phoenix — near 7th Avenue and Interstate 10.
But you don’t have to wait until then to bid.
“Everything is available for online bidding beginning on Saturday, Dec. 13,” said Weidenhamer. “They can just go to our website at www.auctionandappraise.com and place bids there, and those bids will be represented in the live auction that starts the following Saturday.”
