Valley SRP customers could see 4 percent rate hike

PHOENIX — Phoenix-area Salt River Project customers could soon pay 4 percent more for their power.
“That would be about $4.60 per month for our typical residential power customer,” SRP’s Scott Harrelson said.
While less than $5 per month may seem small, it adds up quickly. Harrelson said the proposed hike would help offset about $1 billion in improvements and repairs, including a natural gas power plant.
The hike would also affect solar customers.
“They would save less money if they don’t try to use their solar system in a way that offsets that power during that 3-6 p.m. timeframe,” Harrelson said.
The Arizona Corporation Commission is expected to vote on the proposed hike in February.
