Arizona State low on the list of ‘smartest’ public colleges in America

Some billboards around Phoenix have bragged that Arizona State is the “biggest bang for your buck”, yet a list recently released by Business Insider doesn’t even have ASU in the top 50 of the smartest public colleges in America.
The list is composed by combining both brainpower and affordability as factors for ranking the schools.
According to Business Insider, the average SAT and ACT test scores schools report to US News decides the “smarts,” and then cost is taken into account.
Regardless of the list, it’s a proven fact that in-state tuition for most public schools is thousands of dollars cheaper than private universities — an average of $22,000 cheaper, actually.
Arizona State is tied with 10 other schools at No.83 on the list. But ASU fans, take heart — that school down south didn’t even make the cut.
