Undead rising: Over 10,000 expected at Zombie Walk 6 in Phoenix

Oct 24, 2014, 8:05 PM | Updated: 8:19 pm

Downtown Phoenix will look like a scene out of “The Walking Dead” during Zombie Walk 6, a free event for adults and children Saturday from 2 to 11 p.m. at Heritage and Science Park in Phoenix.

The event will be hosted by Downtown Phoenix, Inc., a community group whose goal is to revitalize the city’s downtown area.

Downtown Phoenix, Inc. vice president of marketing R.J. Price said over 10,000 zombie enthusiasts, including young kids, are expected to attend.

“We encourage people to bring their kids. Not a lot of events embrace children; we do,” he said.

“We have an entire Lil Zombie Zone programmed specifically for children, which includes everything from some of the professional sports mascots to some Halloween arts and crafts (and) Halloween safety.”

Live music will also be featured at Zombie Walk 6, including Guns N’ Roses tribute band Recipe for Disaster.

Saint Mary’s Food Bank will be on hand at to collect donations for the upcoming holiday season.

We want to hear from you.
