PHOENIX — Tyson Stevens, the former singer of Arizona-based rock band Scary Kids Scaring Kids, was recently found dead. He was 29.

Rumors began circulating on social media Tuesday after an ambiguous message was posted to the singer’s Facebook page. The death was later confirmed by Stevens’ most recent musical project, Coma Prevail.

“Unfortunately the rumors are true,” read a message on Coma Prevail’s Facebook page. “Out of respect for family we will post details soon. Thank you.”

A source close to Stevens told the Alternative Press his body was found Tuesday morning by his girlfriend in their Tucson home. While the cause of death is still unclear, TMZ recently reported the singer struggled with a long-term heroin addiction. A toxicology report is expected to be released in a few weeks.

Several fans and friends, including Stevens’ girlfriend, Sabrina Amber, posted their condolences to the late singer’s Facebook page.

“You are the love of my life, the only person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” wrote Amber. “I’m going to miss you telling me you love me a million times a day, that’s going to be hard to go without.”

Stevens formed the post-hardcore band with his friends in 2002 while attending Highland High School in Gilbert. Following much local success, the group gained national notoriety in 2005 after releasing their first full-length album, “The City Sleeps in Flames,” through Immortal Records. The band went on to release two additional full-length albums before disbanding in 2010.

We want to hear from you.
