This Phoenix bar may only have been open since May, but it’s already receiving a nod as one of the best cocktail locations in the country.
Foodie website Eater ranked the 27 hottest cocktail destinations opened in the past year, and the Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour represented Arizona at No. 5.
The bar, which has a 25-page cocktail menu complete with 10 chapters and over 50 cocktails, is quickly becoming famous both locally and nationwide for its drinks and its unique atmosphere. On the Bitter & Twisted website, it reads, “we created a stylish but unpretentious drinking den and eatery.”
Reviewers on Yelp, where the bar has an overall rating of four stars, seem to agree. One woman said the expansive menu will “take you on an adventure.” Another said it is a “primo spot for good food and drink,” while still having the atmosphere of “the cozy local drinking hole.”
Bitter & Twisted is fittingly located in the historic Luhrs Building, which used to house the Prohibition Department.
Besides cocktails, the bar also offers beers and wines, alcohol to go, full meals and snacks. Every Tuesday, it also creates a new cocktail-inspired cupcake, which are only available while supplies last.
The bars ranking above Bitter & Twisted on Eater’s list are located in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Cambridge, Mass. and Portland, Maine.
