PHOENIX — It’s a sign of fall: The leaves are starting to change in Arizona.
Snow Bowl is a good spot to check out the beauty. “You can still take the chairlift up and look over all of those beautiful colors,” said Marjorie Magnusson, spokeswoman for the Arizona Office of Tourism.
She said the leaf meter showed the Flagstaff Arboretum is the best place to see the colors.
On your way back from Flagstaff, stop at Oak Creek Canyon. “They have some spectacular colors that change,” Magnusson said.
The White Mountains also offer good viewing. “Greer and Alpine are even higher in elevation than Pinetop and Show Low, so you’ll get some more variety of trees,” Magnusson said. “It’s just beautiful up there.”
Magnusson said that Mount Graham near Safford is another great spot to see the colors.
“This is the most perfect time for every place in the state of Arizona,” Magnusson said. “Every place in Arizona is neither too hot or too cold right now, so no matter what dart that you throw at the map, you’re going to find a beautiful, perfect weekend.”
