Dancing 106-year-old woman thrilled to meet Barack, Michelle Obama

Feb 22, 2016, 2:30 PM

It’s safe to say a lot of Americans would react very differently should they ever meet President Barack Obama or his wife, Michelle.

Some may be excited. Some may be nonplussed. Some may be to excited to speak while others may have a few … choice words to offer the president.

But none are as entertaining as when 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin met the first couple at the White House over the weekend.

McLaurin was at the White House as part of Black History Month, which is every February.

She greeted the Obamas with a big “Hi!” before dancing in place. After she and the president exchanged pleasantries, McLaurin gave Michelle a big hug.

The first lady joked with McLaurin, saying “I want to be like you when I grow up.”

McLaurin responded “You can!” before doing a little dance.

After a little more joking around, things took a serious turn. McLaurin told the Obamas she had been unsure if she would live long enough to go inside the White House.

“I am so happy,” she said.

McLaurin then looked at the Obamas and expressed her joy of seeing a black president and first lady in the White House during Black History Month.

“You made my day,” she said to the Obamas, who expressed the same sentiment.
