One-hit wonders get another chance to shine on national day

One singular sensation. That’s a Broadway song, come to think of it, but appropriate.
Thursday is National One-Hit Wonder Day. The list of musical acts that fall into this category is lengthy.
Now, thanks to the late-summer movie hit “Guardians of the Galaxy, people are rediscovering one such song, Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky.” The song was featured in the movie’s trailer.
Originally released in 1969, the song went gold in 1970.
Here’s to the singers whose works make us say, “Oh, yeah, I remember that — I loved that song!”
