Phoenix city employee doing road work hit by vehicle

PHOENIX — A Phoenix city employee was hit by a vehicle as he was doing roadwork near Pecos Road and 17th Street Monday afternoon.
Phoenix Fire responded to an emergency call for a motor vehicle accident involving a Kia Soul and a city truck at approximately 12:30 p.m.
The employee, whose name has not been released, was critically injured when he was struck by the Kia. A female driver, along with two children under the age of 5, were in the vehicle.
The city employee was on the road filling pot holes when he was struck by the Kia, according to Capt. Benjamin Santillan. Both he and the female driver were taken to a trauma center to be treated.
The two children were taken to the nearest hospital.
