On Sunday, a cable line in Tempe fell onto the Loop 101 at University Drive, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
That stretch of the highway is no closed, ADOT said, and it will remain so until workers are able to clear the road. An estimated time of closure was not given.
In a realease, ADOT offered tips on avoiding the jammed section of highway.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area because long delays are expected. Traffic is backed on L-101 Price Freeway between Loop 202 Red Mountain and Southern Avenue.
Motorists may use L-202 Red Mountain and US 60 as alternate routes.
