Scottsdale woman accused of slapping patrol horse

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A Scottsdale woman is being charged after police say
she slapped one of their patrol horses.

KTVK-TV reported Saturday that Scottsdale police
charged 25-year-old Selma Iris Gonzalez with intent to kill or harm a service
animal, which could qualify as a felony.

Authorities said Gonzalez smacked Greyhawk the horse in the rear July 19 outside
a nightclub in Scottsdale’s entertainment district.

Police said the smack was loud enough to be heard by the crowd of bar patrons.

They said Greyhawk was spooked and could have started running into a crowd,
possibly hurting others.

Gonzalez told police she was only petting the horse.
