PHOENIX — Bring out the bells, toss that rice and tie some cans onto your vehicle: Maricopa County will be offering free wedding ceremonies on Valentine’s Day, according to a recent press release.

The free wedding ceremonies will be available on a walk-in basis at the Maricopa County Downtown Justice Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. The center is located at 620 W. Jackson St. in Phoenix.

Couples looking to get hitched on the most romantic day of the year should bring at least two witnesses and a marriage license to the ceremony, which will be performed by a Justice of the Peace.

Marriage licenses will be available for $76 and can be paid with cash, debit card, credit card or money order. They will be available for purchase at the Customer Service Center from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the press release.

In case you and your spouse hoped to get carried away to an island paradise for your honeymoon, the center will also process passport applications during those times. Each application costs $25 per person.

For those looking to spend Valentine’s Day in the Valley — married or not — Scottsdale was recently ranked the second-best city in the nation to spend the holiday. Four Valley restaurants were also ranked among the 100 most romantic restaurants in the U.S.

We want to hear from you.
