PHOENIX — A Mesa man allegedly threatened to kill a police officer’s family while being arrested for DUI.
Police said they were contacted Monday about a drunk man sitting in a truck. Officers were told the driver had nearly hit an apartment porch while driving.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect, 31-year-old Febyruss Benally, walking away from the truck. He allegedly shouted obscenities at officers and appeared highly intoxicated.
Benally was believed to be the intoxicated driver and arrested. While being taken into custody, he allegedly yelled he was going to “kill an officer’s wife and kids and bury them.” He also said he “wanted to see another police memorial.”
Benally was charged with aggravated DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, threatening and possession of an open container.
