3 Phoenix-area kids going to MLB All-Star Game

PHOENIX — Three Valley schoolchildren stepped up to the plate in a big way and earned a trip to Major League Baseball’s All-Star festivities next week in Minneapolis.
They they will represent Arizona in the Pitch, Hit and Run finals.
Matt Novis of Tempe, Lita Vorseth of Mesa and Madison Hamby of Surprise are part of the 24-player group competing in baseball and softball at Target Field.
Novis reached in the boys’ 13-14 baseball age group; Vorseth in softball ages 9-10 and Hamby in softball 7-8 years old. The top three advanced from each grouping.
Some of the fun they’ll have includes brunch and shagging flyballs during the home run derby.
The game will be played Tuesday.
