SHOW LOW, Ariz. — A wildfire in eastern Arizona’s White Mountains
continues to grow in size but so does its containment.
Fire officials said the San Juan Fire located 18 miles southeast of Show Low
grew to nearly 11 square miles by Tuesday night, up from 10 square miles earlier
in the day.
Meanwhile, containment of the fire is at 15 percent, up from 5 percent.
Firefighters have completed burnout operations to deprive the fire of fuel and
to keep it from spreading outside the planned containment lines. They continue
to mop up all areas of the fire.
Nearly 700 personnel are assigned to the fire, which is burning on the Fort
Apache Indian Reservation and the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.
