Arizona man rescued from Wyoming rock face

CODY, Wyo. — An Arizona man who was stranded for two nights on top of a
northwestern Wyoming rock face is doing fine after being rescued by a
helicopter.

A Wyoming National Guard Black Hawk was able to reach 49-year-old Allen
Arrington of Tucson Sunday morning.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office says Arrington, an experienced rock climber,
was on a day hike with his wife on the Cabin Creek trailhead Friday when they
came to an area that was inaccessible. He scaled the 300-foot-high rock face to
get around it, assuming he could keep hiking from there.

His wife called for help Saturday but the rescue team wasn’t able to get to him
because of the rugged terrain. Authorities requested help from the Black Hawk
crew, which was training near Lovell.
