Chandler ‘eyesore’ could be demolished soon

PHOENIX — The never-finished concrete building near Chandler Fashion Center may finally disappear.
The structure, which some call an “eyesore,” is located off of the Loop 101 on Frye Street.
According to KJZZ, the Chandler City Planning and Zoning Commission will vote Thursday to rezone the land for future development.
If the vote is approved, the 26 acres of land could be transformed into an apartment complex, two office buildings, retail space and a parking structure.
From the planning commission, the proposal would then be passed on to city council who will vote on the measure July 10.
The structure is the result of a failed Elevation Chandler project, which hit financial troubles eight years ago.
