Valley musician a finalist in Jewel’s songwriting contest

PHOENIX — A Valley musician is hoping her song about home will catch one celebrity’s attention.
Singer-songwriter and musician Jewel is holding an online contest, asking musicians across the country to compose a song that describes what “home” means to them.
Valley musician Meagan Gipson not only accepted the challenge but became a finalist to boot, FOX 10 reported.
Her song is called “Home is Universal,” and Gipson hopes to not only meet Jewel but spread her love of music — and the spirit of “home” — to everyone.
“Everyone can relate, everyone wants to have a home and that’s in a feeling, in a little place, in a person in an individual,” she said.
The contest ends June 20.
