OAK CREEK CANYON, Ariz. — A small wildfire in northern Arizona’s scenic
Oak Creek Canyon that forced the evacuation of about 40 people has been fully
Infrared mapping showed the Junipine Fire charred about 7 acres.
Authorities believed the fire was sparked by a downed power line. No structures
The Junipine Fire was north of the remains of the Slide Fire, which broke out
last month and burned in rugged terrain for more than two weeks.
Coconino National Forest spokesman Brady Smith said some interior pockets were still
smoldering in the canyon’s West Fork.
