PHOENIX — A new program at Arizona State University aims to help veterans cope with stress and enhance their relationships.
Guitars for Vets is a nonprofit organization based in Milwaukee, Wis., but a chapter is located right in Tempe, Ariz. The program began at the school last year, in partnership with the ASU School of Music.
The 10-week program trains Valley veterans how to play guitar, helping them cope with stress and improve their relationships and quality of life in the process.
“This past semester was the first time veterans who were students at ASU completed the Guitars for Vets training,” according to a press release.
At a ceremony over Memorial Day weekend, the vets involved with the program played music and were presented with their very own guitars.
