Main Street Minute: Another Smashburger to open in Mesa

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.
• The site of a former gas station in the East Valley is undergoing a major transformation. What used to be a Shell station at Power and Baseline roads in Mesa will become home to a Starbucks and Smashburger. The businesses are slated to open in the summer.
• Two job fairs Tuesday: Convergys is hiring customer support as well as sales and retention support from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. near 16th Street and Camelback Road. TeleTech will interview customer-service candidates from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. near Bell Road and Interstate 17.
• A Valley police department has been awarded over a quarter-million dollars for vehicle- and driving-related safety. The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway handed Tempe Police $260,000 to help fund DUI enforcement, improve the use of seat belts and child-safety seats, as well as loud party patrol and DUI suppression.
