Mesa police to hold candlelight vigil in memory of officer killed off-duty

PHOENIX — Mesa Police will hold a candlelight vigil Tuesday in memory of Officer Brandon Mendoza, who was killed in an off-duty car accident.
Mendoza, 32, died early Monday when a wrong-way driver crashed into him on an East Valley freeway.
The wrong-way driver, who also died, has been identified as 42-year-old Raul Silva Corona.
Menodza, a 13-year veteran of the force, will be remembered in a gathering at 7:30 p.m. at police headquarters near Second Street and Robson Road.
