Phoenix police union wants voters to decide on pay

PHOENIX — The union that represents Phoenix police officers wants a city
resolution to impose pay cuts put before voters.

The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association on Friday announced it is seeking to
put the issue on a ballot referendum or initiative.

The Phoenix City Council voted 5-4 Wednesday to enforce new contracts on
officers, whose union had balked at accepting cuts to salary and benefits of 2.5
percent over two years.
