PHOENIX — For Chandler, the more sun, the better.
After finishing two solar projects in January, the East Valley Tribune reported that Chandler will construct two more solar panel projects in the city.
The Chandler City Council approved two contracts with SolarCity “to install solar panels at the police department’s property and evidence building, as well as at the downtown library.”
Each project will cost $461,000 and $239,000, respectively, and feature carports with solar panels. The police building will also have panels on the roof.
The city will pay for installation and “20 years of prepaid power at a locked rate.” The city expects to save a total of over $800,000 with the two solar panel projects.
