1 killed in overnight rollover accident in Phoenix

PHOENIX — One person was killed Thursday morning when he was thrown from his car in a rollover accident near the Desert Botanical Garden.
Police said the driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt. The single-car crash, instigated by a flat tire, happened around 12:30 a.m., and closed westbound McDowell Road from Galvin Parkway to 52nd Street until shortly after 7 a.m.
Phoenix Police said three nurses happened to be passing by and gave the victim first aid. The 64-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
