Police working to identify body found in Tempe Town Lake

PHOENIX — A body was found in Tempe Town Lake on Thursday, police said.

Tempe Police Lt. Mike Pooley said the department received a 911 call around noon on Thursday. Two people thought they saw the body and flagged down some boaters, who confirmed it.

“The body has been pulled out,” Pooley said.

It is unknown how the person died.

“By the condition of the body we can tell you that the body has been in the water for some time,” Pooley said. “Possibly a couple days, maybe more.”

Pooley said the body is male. He was wearing a backpack.

Police are investigating.
