PHOENIX — After running short-staffed for about three years, the Glendale Fire Department is putting out the “now hiring” sign.
“What we’re looking at is about 20 to 28 new people — that’s men and women — who will go through a selection process,” said Danny Senese with the department.
Senese said interested applicants must meet a variety of requirements.
“You have to be 18 years of age, you have to have a valid Arizona driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED equivalent, pass a background check and then you go to the academy.”
The academy takes about 12 to 13 weeks.
The city is able to hire thanks to a federal grant that will pay for the first two years of new recruits.
