PHOENIX — The Phoenix Fire Department responded to an emergency call at 2:00 p.m. MST Sunday afternoon about a house that caught on fire near 31st Avenue and Grovers Avenue.
Four minutes after receiving the call, firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately noticed smoke coming from the attic and fire from the back side of the residence.
The homeowner, who escaped safely out of the house with his family, told officials that he heard a popping sound and corresponding smoke coming from an attached storage unit.
Despite the home’s metal roof, firefighters quickly put out the fire using a coordinated attack, according to Capt. Ruben Saavedra.
No injuries were reported, however arson investigators with Phoenix Fire are looking into the incident.
