PHOENIX — Phoenix certainly isn’t short on sunny days and, reportedly, that leads to an abundance of solar power.
According to FastCoexist.com, the Phoenix metro area has the second-highest solar wattage per capita in the nation with 84.76.
There are multiple reasons behind the ranking.
Phoenix, Las Vegas and Sacramento come next. They owe their top positions to nearby deserts, which again are ideal for bigger projects. San Francisco is in fifth place, mainly because of high electricity prices (which encourages homeowners to switch from the grid) and several big solar companies based in the city.
Overall, Fresno, Calif. has the highest solar wattage per person at 182.92.
