PHOENIX — A new phishing scam is targeting Netflix users in an attempt to obtain credit card information.
The phishing attempt starts by telling Netflix users that their account has been suspended due to “unusual activity,” and they are given a phone number to call. Once connected with a “support staffer,” they will connect callers with a “Microsoft Certified Technician” to help with the problem.
Netflix has no affiliation with Microsoft.
While on the fake call, the scammers attempt to collect a photo ID and credit card as account verification. If you give any account information over a call like this, Netflix urges you to change your information immediately.
