Bank-robbery suspect shot, killed in Mesa

PHOENIX — A bank-robbery suspect was killed Tuesday morning by Gilbert Police after a car chase into Mesa.
Police said a bank near Power and Baseline roads in Gilbert was robbed and 57-year-old Harold Lynn Phelps left the scene on a bicycle before stealing a car. Police followed him to Mesa apartment complex, where he was shot near Crismon and Broadway roads.
During the car chase, police said Phelps rammed two of their vehicles, injuring an officer.
