SURPRISE, Ariz. — Police in the town of Surprise have equipped all their
patrol officers with a body-worn camera.
Surprise police initially purchased 61 cameras in August, which was enough for most of the patrol force. An
additional 19 cameras in November put a camera on every patrol officer.
Police said recordings captured by the cameras will be used as evidence in
investigations and ultimately in the courtroom during trial.
They said the video and sound from the cameras has been a useful tool for
administrators to resolve complaints against officers.
