PHOENIX — This is no laughing matter: A Phoenix-area marketing company is aiming to fight poverty by creating a video that will put a smile on everyone’s face.
Officials with the Scottsdale-based Santy Integrated marketing company are hoping to fight poverty while making people laugh.
CEO Daniel Santy said because his company has had a great year, they now want to give back by creating the longest laugh track.
“It’s our way of giving back after a sensational year in 2015 and using our skills and digital development to do good,” he said.
People can contribute to the track by recording a 10- to 15-second-long video of somebody laughing and post it at www.longestlaughtrack.com.
Santy said the company will be donating $1 for every laugh submitted and is aiming to collect up to 5,000 laughs. The money will be donated to Comic Relief, a United Kingdom-based charity that aims to fight poverty through the power of entertainment.
The organization is most well-known for its annual Red Nose Day, which is one day a year where people from all over the world come together and raise money for people in need through laughs.
So far, the company has collected 11 minutes worth of laughs. Santy said he can tell the people contributing videos are having a lot of fun making them.
“What we see happening so far are people making other people laugh,” he said. ” They get them up on the site and help raise money for Comic Relief and ending poverty worldwide.”
