PHOENIX — A teenage boy is recovering after he was shot Thursday afternoon.
Sgt. Bert Anzini of the Surprise Police Department said the 16-year-old boy walked into a McDonald’s restaurant near Greenway and Reems Roads at around 4:30 p.m. and told employees he had been shot.
The boy was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. He had been shot in the thigh.
“The circumstances surrounding the shooting, where it happened, is under investigation right now,” said Anzini.
He said investigators were hoping to learn more about the shooting after interviewing the boy at the hospital.
