The Phoenix Suns helped put smiles on the faces of several hospital patients Tuesday.
Team members made a trip to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Phoenix. Guard Devin Booker and forwards Cory Jefferson and Jon Leuer along with the team’s Solar Squad visited patients and their families. It’s part of the team’s season of giving, as Suns players plan to spread some cheer around the Valley this holiday season.
“I’m having people tell me I’m making their day just by visiting them,” Booker said. “It means the world to me to give back to them.”
Booker said it’s important for professional athletes to give back to the community.
“Sometimes us professionals don’t realize what affect we can have on families like this,” Booker said. “You can see it in their faces right when you walk in.”
Leuer also enjoyed the experience of visiting with fans.
“It’s a good thing to come around and just try to uplift their spirits, give out a few gifts and wish them a speedy recovery,” Leuer said.
The players autographed photos for patients and their families. The Solar Squad also handed out stuffed Suns gorilla toys.
