Ariz. man sentenced in multi-state drug case in Va.

NORFOLK, Va. — An Arizona man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for
helping run a multi-state cocaine distribution ring.

Federal prosecutors say 33-year-old Luis Alberto Navarro of Tucson was
sentenced Friday in Norfolk. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute
cocaine in September.

Navarro also on Friday was ordered to forfeit $300,000 in cash seized in
connection with his arrest in June 2013.

According to court documents, Navarro operated the Tucson hub of a cocaine
trafficking organization. The enterprise had a nationwide network of
distribution points, including locations in Indiana, California, New York,
Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Navarro recruited and supervised couriers to transport and distribute cocaine,
which typically was hidden inside the lining of coolers and inert, hollowed-out
fire extinguishers.
