Suspect arrested in deadly Tempe apartment party shooting

PHOENIX — The suspect, who killed one man and seriously injured a woman after opening fire on a holiday party early Sunday morning at an apartment complex near the Loop 101 and University Drive, has been arrested according to the Tempe Police Department.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Daniel Taylor, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault upon his arrest.
Police evacuated several apartments while they searched for a suspect earlier in the day. According to Tempe PD Sgt. Mike Pooley, they located a man they call “a strong investigative lead” in an apartment, and using undisclosed techniques to get the man to come out.
The male victim has also been identified as 28-year-old Jeff Ward.
