Police report released in Tucson imprisonment case

TUCSON, Ariz. — A 17-year-old girl and her two younger sisters hugged,
touched each other’s faces and talked about how they had all changed after being
reunited following imprisonment by their mother and stepfather for up to two

The details are described in a police report and the transcript of a 911 call
from a neighbor. Police released the documents Tuesday.

Investigators said the two younger girls, ages 12 and 14, escaped last week
through the window of the bedroom they shared and alerted a neighbor after the
stepfather tried to break down the room’s door and was brandishing a knife.

Police say the three girls were malnourished and dirty. One of them said she
hadn’t showered in more than a month.

The girl’s stepfather, Fernando Richter, and their mother, Sophia Richter, face
multiple counts of kidnapping and child abuse.
