Arizona teen arrested after making threats to school

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — Police in Prescott Valley have arrested a teenage
boy who they say threatened to bomb or shoot up a local school.

Sgt. Brandon Bonney says staff from the Franklin Phonetic School had alerted
authorities to threatening and offensive emails.

Authorities traced the messages to a 15-year-old former student. Bonney says
the boy made several incriminating statements, had about 100 rounds of
ammunition and was seeking a handgun to carry out the threats.

The teenager was booked into Yavapai County juvenile detention on one count
each of hoax, threatening and intimidation, and disrupting a school.

The county’s director of juvenile services said Tuesday that an attorney would
be appointed for the boy.
