Gilbert has been rated the second-safest U.S. city by Law Street Media, the town announced Monday.
The web-based media company’s report is based on FBI uniform crime report statistics and is only for cities with more than 200,000 residents. The report also accounts for murder rate per 100,000 people, median household income and unemployment rate.
Gilbert earned the same ranking a year ago.
“We are proud to be the country’s second safest city in the country,” Gilbert Mayor John Lewis said in a statement. “Gilbert’s safe atmosphere is created through the dedication of our terrific police department along with the commitment to our community from our residents and businesses to continue to make it a clean, safe and vibrant place to live and work.”
