Recent storms have brought winter weather closures to certain campgrounds and concessionaire operations on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.
For a complete list of recreation areas that are closed or partially open, visit the ASNF website.
The five ranger districts not only remain open but are getting ready for winter holiday fun.
Sunrise Ski Area, Pole Knoll Recreation, near Greer, and Williams Valley, near Alpine, are ready for ski enthusiasts.
Christmas tree-cutting is also a family-favorite event, but permits are required.
Tree permits are available at many Big 5 stories across Phoenix, as well as at all five ASNF ranger stations.
“We ask the public to remain patient when buying any permit and bring a driver’s license, state identification or picture identification,” said Forest Supervisor Jim Zornes.
