Main Street Minute: Phoenix suburb’s police pick up $60K grant for safety improvements

• A West Valley police department is getting a big chunk of change to help make the city safer. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety awarded Peoria’s police nearly $60,000 in grant money to be used for more DUI enforcement, as well as increase pedestrian, school zone and bicycle safety.
• Revana is hosting a job fair Wednesday in Tempe, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. near Elliot Road and Hardy Drive. The marketing company has openings in customer service, sales and marketing.
• There’s a hiring event for the blind and visually impaired Wednesday in west Phoenix. The event runs from 11 until 1 p.m. near 91st Avenue and McDowell Road. There will also be an employers-only Q-and-A session for starting at 9:30 a.m.
