PHOENIX — A Scottsdale high school was placed on lockdown Tuesday after a suspicious backpack was found, police said.
The backpack was found in a bathroom at Desert Mountain High School. Police were on high alert after a caller with a digitally-altered voice claimed there was a bomb at both Desert Mountain and Chapparal high schools.
A backpack was also found at Chapparal but the school was not placed on lockdown.
Students said the lockdown was lifted about 1:10 p.m.
As a result of the called-in threat, police said extra officers would be stationed at each school for the day.
