PHOENIX — State officials said the contents of some packages of tortillas
sold in Arizona aren’t what they’re advertised.
The Department of Weights and Measures said seven of the 36 locations
inspected this month sold product that either was short on advertised weight or
contained fewer tortillas than advertised.
The businesses inspected included grocery stories, big- box locations and
Department Director Kevin Tyne said most of the violations went to out-of-state manufacturers and to
local supermarkets that package their own tortillas.
He said the goal should be to meet or exceed the stated weights so that
customers get what they pay for.
