Several injured when SUV strikes light rail in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Several people were injured Wednesday after an SUV driver allegedly ran a red light and collided with a light rail train.
“We had one SUV that appeared to have been t-boned by the light rail,” said Phoenix Fire Capt. Ruben Saavedra. “[There was] significant damage to the SUV.”
In total, seven people were injured in the crash. Three were transported to the hospital, one of which was the 57-year-old driver of the SUV. She was designated a trauma patient.
The other four people who were injured did not want to be taken to the hospital.
The crash happened near Central and Roosevelt.
Some delays were experienced on the light rail.
