MESA, Ariz. — An outage with phone provider Century Link has left more than 40,000 residents in Mesa without the ability to call 911 on their landline phones.
According to Capt. Forrest Smith of the Mesa Fire Department, if residents need to make an emergency 911 call, they should use their mobile devices or call (480)-644-2211 on their landline phones.
“Century Link, our provider, was having some technical failure,” Smith said. “We don’t know if it’s a hardware issue or a software issue.”
Smith could not estimate when the outage will be resolved.
